In Korea, jade was never valued merely as a beautiful stone. Its luminous surface, strength, and enduring character made it a symbol of integrity, refinement, peace, and longevity. From royal ornaments to wedding gifts, rings, and norigae, jade expressed not only the wearer's status and taste but also the blessings bestowed upon them.
The world broadly described as “jade” contains different minerals, origins, and visual qualities. Jadeite is admired for its depth of color, translucency, and dense structure, while pale nephrite and Korean white jade possess a gentler, milky luminosity. NASCHENKA never judges a stone by its name or color alone. We study the way light enters it, the distribution of color, its texture and density, the feeling in the hand, and the balance it will create within a finished piece.
No two natural stones repeat the same color or pattern. A cloud-like inclusion, a shift in tone, or a line formed by nature is not the flaw of a manufactured object; it is the record of the stone's own time. Selecting fine jade is not a search for stones that look mechanically identical. It is the ability to recognize the beauty that belongs to one stone alone.
